One Week to Go!

Posted by Brian on June 07, 2007 at 05:51 PM in eBay Live! 2007 , General | Permalink

Brian_post Okay everyone, I know it's been a few weeks since I posted an update about eBay Live! but I have a good reason.  Jeff, Ryan, and Ninad just now found me buried at my desk under a ton of work preparing for the event. However, never fear - I used some of those pieces of paper to write down notes about a few of this year's highlights. I skipped the obvious ones that most people already know about, like the Gala and the Keynote, and instead tried to pick out a few things that you might not be aware of.

New for eBay Live! 2007 Boston - Limited edition Hard Rock Cafe' eBay Live! pins.  I believe there are 6 of them. They are in the shape of quitars and have the words eBay Live! on them.  2 of the 6 even spin.  eBay members can pick these up at the Boston Hard Rock Cafe' where a portion of the proceeds will go to charity.  You also receive a free non-alcoholic beverage and 2 free desserts with the purchase of an entree at Hard Rock Cafe'.  Just say you're in Boston for eBay Live!

Tons of Education. This year we are offering 112 classes, 39 discussion, and 29 labs, all about various topics related to doing business on eBay and for all levels of experience - from the brand new member to the long-term veteran.  There's something for everyone.

Financial Guru Suze Orman.  She will be holding a seminar with savvy financial advice to help you with everyday life, as well as your eBay business.  We'll of course have other speakers featured as well - you can read more about them on the "Events-at-a-Glance" page.

Town Hall on Saturday. Be sure to attend the Town Hall with Bill Cobb and many other leaders from eBay's North America business team as they take questions from the live studio audience. The fun starts at 11:00 AM EST. If you're attending, make sure to stand up and let them know what's on your mind! And if you're not, you can still listen live by going to the Town Hall page.

Take the wisdom home. All the education information from the classes, seminars, etc. will be available on the CD that eBay Live! attendees will receive in their goody bag at check-in.  And if you'd like, you can purchase the class materials in paper form for $10 in the eBay Store.

The Community Lounge! Ok, I'm a little biased here. But make sure to stop by the Community Lounge, formerly known as the Pink's Lounge, to say hello to your favorite eBay employee, meet up with other members, learn about our Community resources, or to get an autograph from Meg Whitman or Bill Cobb when they visit.  You can also vote on your favorite eBay Match Up here, get an eBay tattoo (not real, of course.....I think), and have your picture taken with a special eBay Live! brand of fun.

The Help Hall. New to the Solutions Center (what we call the main show floor) this year is the Help Hall.  If you want a "tune-up" on your eBay business, stop by the the Help Hall to review the 7 Steps to Scalablity, learn more about shipping, eBay Stores, and other exciting ways to improve and grow your eBay business.

The eBay Book Store.  Looking for reading material? Swing by the new eBay Bookstore. Everything in here is related to eBay or home businesses in general, and best of all, they're all 20% off!

After all that, I'll wrap up with this. I've been to every eBay Live! since the first one in Anaheim in '02.  Each year is different and offers something new and exciting.  But a few things remain the same, which I wouldn't trade for anything.

It's the one time of year where real eBay enthusiasts come togetether to learn how to improve their eBay experience. They meet new friends and reconnect with old ones they made at past eBay Live! events.  We all have fun and we make great memories that will last for a really long time.

I don't know about you, but I think that's pretty darn good for only being together for 3 days. And now I'm tired just typing about this and I haven't even started packing yet.

See you in Boston!

Brian
