Fun at the Webby Awards

Posted by Griff on June 12, 2007 at 11:50 AM in General | Permalink

Ab_griff If you haven't been following along with my posts, on Tuesday Meg (our CEO) was out in New York to accept a Webby Award  on behalf of the eBay Community. But she wasn't alone. eBay members buy_big_from_brandi and arizonaswede accompanied her to the event to represent the Community, making it a true team effort.

Some quick background: The Webbys are a quirky celebration honoring the "best of the internet." TheirMegwebby_3 best-known tradition, perhaps, is that all acceptance speeches are limited to only 5 words (no play-you- off music here!). After gathering suggestions from both members and employees, the group stepped up to the mic and gave the tongue-in-cheek winning suggestion: "Bidding Starts at 99 Cents!" That's the group to the right.

Time Magazine's Justin Fox sat at their table during the event. His thoughts, as well as a cool little camera-phone picture of Meg, can be found on his blog.
