The Colts Rain in Miami

Posted by Jeff on February 06, 2007 at 10:23 AM in General | Permalink

Jeff_post_123 I know the title is cheesy - almost every single recap I've read of the Super Bowl has some Peytonmvp sort of "rain" pun in the title due to the inclement weather during the game, so I thought maybe I'd be breaking some journalistic rule if I didn't follow suit. But it's also appropriate, since the Colts rained on my game-prognosticating parade and ruined my Bears prediction from last week (based on eBay sales data). That drops my overall record to 2-3, and clearly I need to figure out how to get my predicting mojo back.

Some interesting sidenotes: Over 3000 Peyton Manning items - that's him with the Most Valuable Player trophy - were sold on Super Bowl Sunday, doubling the amount sold in any one day in the two weeks prior (I guess a lot of people will be showing off Manning goods after the fact). Dominic Rhodes, the Indy RB who some felt should have been the MVP, also got a boost, tripling his daily average of items sold over the same time span (never mind that he's sold about 1/1000 the number of Peyton items).

Bears fans got into the act too - Devin Hester, who returned the opening kickoff for a TD, saw his items sell at a clip about 350% greater on Sunday than they had in the previous two weeks. The lesson? Stock up on items from potential MVPs before next year's game.
