Selling Snow on eBay

Posted by Jeff on January 11, 2007 at 01:42 PM in General | Permalink

Jeff_post_113 For people looking for proof that you can buy [almost] anything on eBay, here's another example - word's been making it around the press about a couple from Colorado who got tired of shoveling all the snow falling around them, so they listed three snowballs on a whim. To their surprise, their pretty-much-a-joke listing ended up with a bunch of page views, emails, and bids. According to this article on MyFOX Colorado, they got bids from several foreign countries, and the story even got picked up by Armed Forces Radio, giving military families the idea of sending snow to soldiers in Iraq for the holidays (which I thought was really cool - no pun intended).

The snowballs ended up selling for $200 to a man in Connecticut, who wanted to give his daughters a (small) White Christmas. Talk about money falling from the sky for the seller! I just wish I knew how they were planning on shipping it.

And maybe the couple was on to something. Their success has already spawned several imitators.
