Community Events and my "Primitive" Knowledge

One event stood out from the rest for me in our latest Community Events Broadcast - it was the "New England Primitive Gathering." To me, this sounded like something out of The Far Side - neolithic New Englanders, attired in their best animal skins, cosily ensconced in rough stone armchairs in their primitive club cave and talking about the Rights of Man. Spiky clubs have been considerately left at the door and a mastodon is roasting deliciously in the background.
Alas, it was just my overheated imagination and total lack of knowledge about the Antiques category. The "primitives" in this case turned out to be a Group of rather sophisticated eBay sellers who specialize in selling "primitive folk art," like Raggedy Ann and Raggedy Andy dolls.
Oh well. If there's one thing I learned, it's that the Community Events Broadcast is one of the best ways of finding the unexpected events in eBay's Community forums. You can find the latest broadcast towards the top of most discussion boards. Besides the sophisticated primitives, this time you'll also find other interesting groups like the Small Format Art *SFA* Group. If you're an art lover, you'll be delighted by their small works of art (under 14" in any one direction). They have a monthly "theme week" and have a lot of fun with their "dare" challenges.
Elsewere, fans of Mitchell reels are casting about for a winner. The Mitchell Reel Bidders (MRB) Group is angling for a logo design contest - the winner will receive a customized Mitchell salt water reel - free. And the Broadcast also features two of the most regularly organized Community events - the Park Share Your Wares and Yard Fard's Anything Goes Sale.
For more exciting events, check out our Community Events Broadcast.
And now I'm off to read up more about primitives.
