eBay Developers Program @ CES

We've got a great showfloor report from Rob Cross of the eBay Developers Program, who was in Las Vegas last week for the Consumer Electronics Show. CES is known as the conference to see what’s new and hot in the consumer electronics and gadget world. Take a look at Rob's write-up and photos below:

The show is massive, with over 155,000 attendees and two separate conference centers for companies to showcase themselves.  Never in my life have I seen so many HD televisions, digital music players or mobile phones – it was like a playground for gadget junkies. (Stephen Colbert of The Colbert Report even gave it a Science/Technology Tip of the Hat, while Macworld scored a tongue-in-cheek Double Wag of the Finger.)

Part of the fun was checking out the Innovations 2007 Award- winning VOIP phone from Philips with Skype pre-installed (photo above on the right), along with the massive Sony 108" LCD TV (photo below). This wouldn’t even fit into my living room.

I spent most of my time talking to companies about eBay’s Web services platform and ways to integrate into our ecosystem to bring the eBay experience to different areas like the digital living room, gaming and devices.  I also had a chance to catch-up with eBay API developers BIAP, UnWiredBuyer and Channel Velocity (ChannelVelocity is also an eBay Certified Provider).

It was great show (if a little exhausting) and I’m really excited that I was able to represent the eBay Developers Program there.
