Dave Barry's take on last year's PS3 Frenzy on eBay

Posted by Ninad on January 04, 2007 at 03:35 PM in eBay in Pop Culture , General | Permalink

Ninad_post_34 You probably know of Dave Barry, the inimitable humor columnist whose sometimes-cracked take on current events appears in papers across the country. He recently published his look back at 2006, and December included a funny nugget about eBay being part of a holiday tradition. More specifically, about how we helped kick off the frenzy around Sony's PlayStation 3:

"As the year, finally, nears its conclusion, Americans turn their attention to the holiday season, which they celebrate -- as generations have before them -- by frantically overbidding on eBay for the Sony PlayStation 3, of which Sony, anticipating the near-homicidal level of demand, manufactured an estimated 11 units."

To many trying to come up with a PS3 in time for the holidays, this probably sounds more true than  intended. Here is the version of the column that appeared in the Miami Herald.
