R2-D2! It is you! It is you!

Only after seeing all six Star Wars chapters does it really become clear who the REAL story is all about.  Some people insist that it's all about the fall and ultimate redemption of Anakin Skywalker (Darth Vader), but if you take a closer look it's obvious.  The real star of the show is R2-D2.  He (or should that be "It") rolls in like the cavalry in every movie and saves the day. 

Whether it's co-piloting the fighter ships in A Phantom Menace or A New Hope, fixing the hyperdrive in Empire, transporting the Death Star plans, or breaking into the shield bunker, R2 does it all.  Anyway, if that didn't make it pretty obvious that I'm what some would call a "big fan", here is a picture of my desk. 

Unfortunately just being a big fan probably won't help me with the upcoming auction for one of the actual R2-D2 domes used in Return of the Jedi and later in A Phantom Menace.  The prop is going to be sold in an eBay Live Auction starting on the 15th.  Bidding is set to open at $100,000, and since I'm no "mindless philosopher" I'm not sure I can rationalize spending that much for an "overweight glob of grease".
