Patience Needed for Earthquake-Affected Members in Asia

Posted by Jeff on December 28, 2006 at 03:30 PM in General | Permalink

Jeff_post_107 For the second time this week, I'm pretty much reflecting a note put on our Announcement Board. As you've probably heard, a couple of days ago an earthquake measuring 6.7 on the Richter Scale struck off the coast of Taiwan. In short, it damaged some of the undersea cables used by several telecommunications companies, affecting the Internet access of people in many nearby countries, including Hong Kong, China, Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and even Australia.

While they're working to fix the lines, it could take a few days to get everyone back up and running smoothly again. So if you're buying from or selling to a member in the area, be patient with them, as they might not be able to check on payments and purchases for a little bit. A little extra understanding right now would go a long way towards ensuring a smooth transaction.
