Learn about Current Community Events

Posted by Ninad on July 18, 2006 at 12:18 PM in General , Tips & Strategies | Permalink

Ninad_post_12 On any given day, there's so much happening in the eBay Community that it's easy to miss an event you're probably interested in. The Community Calendar section of the Community Hub is a good starting point to find events, but there are many other happenings going on in other parts of the Community forums.

I like to compare our Community forums to city neighborhoods, with some well-traveled streets and thoroughfares, and a great many undiscovered nooks and corners. Just as you can live in a city for years before stumbling on a diner that makes a perfect omelette, or a bookshop with just the right amount of coziness, you can discover many pleasant retreats on eBay's Community forums.

Now we've made it easier for you to get the neighborhood feel of the eBay Community and learn about many Community-driven events that don't get much attention outside of their own "home board", chat room or eBay Group. Just yesterday, Jackie from our team "broadcast" the first Current Community Events thread. (When we "broadcast" threads, they appear simultaneously at the top of most discussion boards.) These Community Events broadcasts will be a regular feature from now.

If you're a seller looking for selling tips, these events can be very useful. eBay members are always planning selling initiatives or working together on Community based projects, including creating listings to support charitable causes.

Take a lunch-hour stroll through some of our "neighborhoods" – I just did, and learned that the folks on the Childrens Clothing Boutique are getting ready for Another Round of Chuck Your Inventory. Now, all my knowledge of children's clothes can be written on a little yellow sticky note with acres to spare, but I found it fascinating to see how people on this board are helping each other. Meanwhile, the Crafters' Café Group is organizing a Christmas in July sale, and another Group, An eBay Stores Sidewalk Sale, has such an inviting front page that I ventured to check out some of their cool items. (Some of the inventory left my untrained male eye baffled – for instance, I probably wouldn't know what to do with an Estee Lauder Pure Pops Lip Gloss Sugar Pie without the aid of a detailed manual).

If you or your Group has an upcoming event that you'd like us to mention in our future broadcasts, please read the guidelines, and email jackie@ebay.com or maeve@ebay.com.
