Hi Everyone! This is Gianni and I just got back from eBay Live! All I can say is wow! It was so much fun meeting so many members of the Community. I had the special privilege of working with the Community Hall of Fame award winners. Bill Cobb announced the winners during his Town Hall event. You can hear the announcement of the winners and the Town Hall on the Town Hall page, www.ebay.com/townhall
This year’s
winners of the Community Hall of Fame awards are all extraordinary people. When looking for eligible winners, we look
for eBay members who exhibit the eBay Values and make substantial contributions
to the eBay Community. These
contributions range from helpful About Me pages, answer questions on eBay’s
Discussion boards and Answer Center, participating in various eBay Input
programs, serving as a Mentor or Volunteer, or finally, leading one of eBay’s
various groups.
This year,
the eBay Foundation was generous enough to come through again and make a
special charitable grant in the name of our winners to a charity of the
winner’s choice. This year’s donation is
$2,500 to each charity.
Let me tell
you about the winners.
Our first
winner is rockboss2000. rockboss2000 has
been an eBay member since Jan. 2001. She
can be found on the Technical Issues board frequently assisting other members
with questions about possible tech issues caused by eBay or their
computers. She also has an extremely
helpful About Me page to help trouble shoot technical issues. rockboss2000’s charitable organization is the
Heart House Foundation.
Next is afternoon-daydreams.
She emigrated from Germany and now lives in South Carolina. She has been an eBay member since February
2000 and is a member of the Voices and Mentors programs. She is extremely helpful on the International
Trading board and assisted with the Tsunami relief efforts through MissionFish
with eBay's Giving Works feature. Her
charity award from the eBay Foundation is awarded to the South Carolina Awareness
and Rescue for Equines, Inc. (S.C.A.R.E.)
Third is *zip. She’s been an eBay member since October
2003. She is a dedicated helper on the
new About Me board, and provides assistance on the New To eBay, Photos/HTML,
and the Packaging and Shipping boards. She has a very robust About Me page that offers tips on packaging and
shipping. We encourage you all to check
out her About Me page. *zip’s charity
contribution goes to the Washington State University foundation.
Next, we have
bobmill. He’s been an eBay member since
Nov. 1997. He is a member of the Voices
and eBay input programs. He has assisted
other members in the Answer Center by answering different questions over 25,000
times. Bob is very proud to be a
turquoise shooting star, which means he has over 25,000 feedback!! He is also a PowerSeller. bobmill
has chosen the Best Friends Animal Society as his charity to receive the
donation from the eBay Foundation.
Finally, we
have pi_r_square. He has been an eBay
member since late
1997. He frequently
assists other members on the Trust & Safety, Policy, and PayPal boards. He has an informative About Me page for
assistance with Trust and Safety issues as well as help with buying and selling
questions. pi_r_square’s charity
donation is awarded to a local San Antonio fire department.
We want to
congratulate all 5 of our winners! On behalf of all the eBay employees we give
our special thanks for making the eBay Community strong and healthy and a fun
place for all who visit eBay’s Community areas.
Thank You!
Gianni
